Anyone one have any idea why my wipers will not shut off? I have even unplugged the wiper switch and they still keep running. As long as the ignition switch is on, they will run. I have had to unplug the connection at the motor to make it stop. Could something have shorted in the motor that makes it constantly run? :Do No: Thanks, John

How did i know that?

Check the black wire going to the brass tab on the wiper switch. The brass tab is held on place by one of the three screws that attaches the switch to the plastic cluster. The tab might be grounding out to the metal dash and keeping the wipers on.

Had that happen on two buicks - the magnetic switch in the wiper motor controller get stuck - on one I just put a piece e of masking under the magnet to temp stop it - stayed like that for years- may still be I sold it. On the other replaced whole wiper motor.

be sure the wiper switch ground wire is connected to the underdash common ground. that solved the same problem that u have now only mine was 11 years ago.
