    Hi everyone,

I have a question on something I just noticed. A little while back I was detailing my wiper motor and swapped in a repro wiper pump (for hidden wipers as my Buick is equipped). When I went to test the wipers, they work perfectly, but now the windshield washer automatically comes on. I thought that I put everything back the way it originally was hooked up. Any ideas?

    Chris,
I would double check the ground at the motor. Make sure you have good contact without any paint residue in the way.

Thanks Steve - I will check out the ground. Was wondering if a defective repro wiper pump could also cause the issue.

Did you align the pump? Check tips under "Similar threads" at the bottom of this page. The one by jimtash that Jason answered,

Without studying the drawing, I know they can have a mind of their own. 12V power is applied once car is "ON", changing switch positions puts different leads to ground.

Mine was built with non-park wipers & it was one of the first items I changed. After a few really wierd reactions to 12V power, I found a factory intermediate harness at the dash switch. Noticed it on the drawing. Removed it & all was good. This harness was installed only on cars without park wipers. The grounding circuit was completely different.
