Wiper trans/motor/linkage problems

On my 68 Skylark, I have hidden wipers. I had to replace the transmission linkage as it was completely shot. I can't get the drivers side to park correctly, although I'm not sure if it did so before I got the car. Is there a difference between the linkages from 68 - 72? Is there a difference between the motors or the arm that attaches the motor to the linkage? I think there is only one place to adjust this and it is where the linkage attaches to the wiper motor arm. Thanks

I take it the passenger side parks correctly? Can you remove the driver's arm and reattach it in the correct position when its parked? I forget if its splined so it only goes on one way.

You have to set the drivers side first as it has a spline and can only go on one way (without damage). The passenger side can then go on in a matching angle (no spline). Thanks

You need to loosen them both and place them an inch below the stops. Then tighten the screws. Pull both wipers up on the stops after tightening and that is it. This is in the Fisher manual in 70-72. Your probaly the same

Thanks for the info location. I have a 72 Fisher manual and didn't think about it having the directions for this. I just thought I was missing it in my 68 chassis manual. Looks like I need to go decode what I have in the car. I might have a mismatch problem as the linkage is from a 68 chevelle, the motor is from a 72 Cutlass and the arms are 68 Skylark.

Park/non park differences are found in the motor, linkage, wiper arms & the bottom windshield trim. Internal & external wiring is also different but if you didn't change anything you should be good.
Set up as Dave mentioned & make a careful comparison of the old parts vs. what you put in.
Chevrolet/Pontiac/Olds/Buick.....think they were all the same.

I'll have to look for this too as I am having the problem that my driver's side does not park. I don't wish to hijack this thread, but I thought based on the discussion this might be appropriate. The driver's side has a key milled into the spline. When parked, the spline still angles the key up too far so that wiper doesn;t park, it stays off the cowl molding and on the glass. Is that adjustable? I know the linkage is adjustable and I've all the available slot out of it and it still isn't enough.

The previous linkage didn't allow it to park correctly either and I just assumed it was because it was so worn out. I may just try and find a complete set-up from a parts car and swap it all over.

That's what I did. I think mine came from a GTO, but they are all the same. Unless - the linkage I got was from a non-concealed application. I wonder if I can just add slot to my linkage to make up the difference? I think that is possible if there's anough meat left.

The arm's come in different lengths. I would guess that is your problem as I had the same thing happen recently and found a slightly longer arm mixed in with the parts that came with the car, and the wipers parked below the hood perfectly when I switched them.

From what I can find searching around (at least for a 68), the arm is off-set more for a 68 than other years. I have one on its way this next week that will hopefully fix my problem.
