Hey guys, I'm replacing my original '70 GS 455 wiper motor (hidden/concealed wipers). Every replacement motor I find (including from Year One, that I ordered and have now returned) has 2 wires coming from it ( a green and a yellow wire) that my original does not have. Any idea what these two are for and/or how to wire them so that I can replace my non-functional motor? Unfortunately the replacement motors (rebuilts) don't have wiring instructions and my '70 chassis manual doesn't show these 2 wires. Any help appreciated.

a piece of advice about rebuilt motors . i replaced my wiper motor
just after i bought my gs . went thru two rebuilt wiper motors & returned both of them . i cleaned up & repaired the original & re-installed it .
the problem with the rebuilt units was that the motor ran too slow & failed to engage the locking mechanism for the stop mode . as long as the motor runs, the rebuilders donot appear to check for the proper rpms of the motor .
if i were to require a replacement wiper unit , i would buy brand new .

I have had the exact same issue for years. I too returned motors to Year One, and they swear it's a hidden wipers unit. Well, why don't they hide???:af: I replaced the switch, the motor, took apart and cleaned the transmissions, they don't hide. I put a non hidden unit in, so I could have wipers. When I have to use the wipers, after I turn them off and get out of the car, a gentle push down puts them under the cowl part of the hood. But they won't hide themselves. I ended up re-wiring the replacement motor I got the way the chassis manual shows it. They work fine, but it makes me mad that I had to go through the effort and aggravation. I don't have a solution, only a compromise, sorry. I didn't keep the Year One motor, by the way, I got one locally. Year One's vendor is pulling a fast one on them, as near as I can tell. Too bad, Year One's rep is slipping.

Hey Chris, thanks for the info. Mine almost hide, they need to go down about another 3/4 inch so I do like you and push'em down when finished. As for the two wires that I ws clueless what they were for , I took a chance and taped them up and out of the way behind the unit thinking they must be for an intermittent wiper (which my '70 doe not have) and it works fine.

You got them to work, and that's what's important:TU: But I wonder what is so all fired difficult about getting some hidden wiper motors in stock at places like Year One? I mean, the year our cars were built, a man walked on the moon for Pete's sake. We have lost the fine art of manufacturing hidden wiper motors?? Technology hasn't progressed far enough for us to replicate such a complex bit of machinery? More likely the manufacturers get 15 cents less profit on a hidden unit, so they stopped rebuilding them, or they didn't know the difference in the first place. I'd pay 20 bucks more for a unit that actually did what it was advertised to do, rather than go through the aggravation you or I or anyone else with this problem had. As you might be able to tell, this is one of the funny little things that really bug me:laugh:
