I'm trying to replace the wiper motor on my 70 GS. I found a listing at Advance Auto Parts, but they ask two questions and was hoping that maybe someone would know the answers.

    1. They ask if the car has concealed wipers. Are the wipers that "park", considered "Concealed" wipers?

    2. They as if the car has a demand pump. I have no idea what a demand pump is, does anyone know whether my car would have one or not?

I found out last night that the motor that is currently on the car, came off our old POS 74 Suburban, so I'm guessing that's why it's not working properly. It works okay, but just doesn't park and the washer pump doesn't work.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Be careful to order the correct one. When I pulled a wiper motor from another 70 Skylark and put it in mine, the switch worked backwards - even if I flipped the plug 180 degrees.

I don't know anything about them, but am pretty sure there are at least 2 different ones, lol.

One manufacturer is CARDONE and the number is 40-156. They sell remanufactured ones. I happen to have one still in it's box if anyone is interested. I was going to ebay it this Sunday.

be wary of all the remanufactured wiper motors . the reman company does not run a test as to the strength & motor speed . these motors have to run at or above a certain speed in order to make the parking feature work .
i installed two different reman wiper motors & neither motor would run fast enough minimun speed . cleaned up the original motor & reinstalled it & it works fine .
    from my experience .

Be careful what you put in for a motor.Found out the hardway on my car.
If the car came with park wipers replace it with what you really need. If it was non-parked, again use the right motor. I beleive the chrome windshield trim was wider on the parked version.
Another way to check is to inspect the rear of the wiper switch. Non parked have a short harness between the car harness & the switch, parked have the car harness plugged directly into the switch.
Wrong wiring and/or wrong motor will do some wonderful things including smoke rolloing from the motor!!
