During test and tune on Thur. at Norwalk I wiped out 4 teeth off of my MSD distributor gear. Has anyone else had this problem with MSD? I bought a bronze gear from Doug H. at the track and also founs a stock gear at home. I installed the stock gear. I needed a lath to drill out the I.D. of the gear. and was unable to find one late Thur. night.
The rest of the gear had started to knife edge the flutes of the gear. The cam only had 3 flutes that were starting to knife edge the flutes.
When this happened I tried to turn the motor over by hand with a breaker bar, myself and a friend could not turn the motor over with the spark plugs removed.
On Fri. I drained and strained the oil, checked my System 1 filter and didn't find anything. For kicks I tied to turn the motor over by hand with plugs installed and was able to do so.
Thw best I could get out of it for the rest of the weekend was a 12.32 at 108 mph. Best at Norwalk has been a 11.93 at 114.94. Buick days 04.
Any thoughts or input would he appreciated.
The hood is off and the motor will be coming out soon.

    Thanks

No personal experience, but I'm hearing LOTS of complaints about ALL SORTS of aftermarket distributor gears. Seems they're all junk.

The trick for Chevy is to buy a new melonized gear and hone out the inside diameter to fit the larger MSD shaft. I suppose a stock Buick gear in good condition could be hawged out to fit the MSD shaft and would also be better than a new aftermarket gear.
