I'm an electrical idiot and, let's face it, extremely rusty on mechanicals as well. My problem is my wipers have only one speed and they won't turn off. I think they only work on high (first notch over) and when I turn them off they continue to move up and down about two inches. The only way I can get them to turn off is to shut the car off and wait...sometimes only a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes. Any thoughts? Thanks
You have a bad ground, most likely. There's two right by the steering coulmn under the dash. One's the main dash ground, the other's the wiper switch. You can see them if you lay on the front floor on your back.
This brass terminal hanging in the picture attaches to the corner of the switch(metal part). That's the ground.
wipers If your ground is good replace the switch. I had the same problem two weeks ago and bought a switch this fixed my problem.
wipers i too had the same problem when i bought my gs in 2000 . turned out that the ground was not attached & the switch had a part broken inside . works now .
