I have a 72 Buick Skylark that is being restored. Before the partial restore I had some issues with a short in the wiper motor that would cause my wipers to turn on but not turn off. Replaced the wiring and wiper motor and worked perfectly! ...for about a day. I prep for a nice drive to work in a massive rainstorm and hit the wiper button to turn them on. 3 wipes is all they gave me before stopping. I assumed it was a blown fuse but fuse looked good. Called the mechanic and he said it may be the switch is bad. Anyone have any similar problems with this? My options are to buy a new switch for about 40 to see if thats the problem or just go ahead and buy the Detroit Speed Wiper Kit and drop about 500. Any ideas?

First & easiest check is to ensure the switch end on the harness is well grounded. Tab for a spade terminal goes on one of the switch mounting studs. Could have easily been missed.

And make sure you put the spade on so it doesn't ground against the metal of the dash
