On my '65 Skylark, I had to remove the front windshield and repair the bottom-side of the frame that held it. This side was completely rusted away and had to be cut out.

When I removed the windshield, there were clips around it that attached to some kind of pins in the frame. They looked like nail-heads. I found a replacement to the lower-edge of the frame and am almost ready to install it, but I don't know where to look for those pins and how to install them.

Can anybody tell me about these "pins" and how to replace them?

if you have access to a weld on pin setter used by body shops to pull dents, they have an attachment which weld on those pins my pin spotter is motorguard and i have the attachment unfortunately i dont know what it cost but it doesnt look expensive....you will probably get stuck buying a bag of pins .....another alternative that is out there is they have the pins in a rivet form.....i have never used them so i dont know how effective they are.....but my concern is the potential for water leakage

They also make screw in type... available at any (most) body shop supply stores. They work pretty good, you drill a small hole then they screw in with a Phillips head screwdriver

how are the screw types for water leaking?....do they need to be sealed?....as i said previously i use the pin spotter and sometimes they can can be a hassle in tight places

Screw types have self tapping threads so they get a good, tight seal, when they bite into a smaller pre-drilled hole. You can also use/add some dum-dum, or permagum washers under the heads for added sealing if desired ! There are nylon, screw in clips available too, which reduces the chance of the clips rusting out like the steel ones ! :TU:

I have always screwed them in prior to priming and painting so that takes care of any water making its way through.. its a fairly tight seal as it is when you screw them in...

This sounds really good. Are these screws something that Pepboys or Napa would carry (I didn't spot any in their online stock) or do I need to find more specialty stores?

Yep.. those are the ones... Anyplace that sells professional automotive paint and bodywork supplies "should" have them.
