does anyone no when the nhra requires a window net.will i need one if i run 10.30-10.50's at 127/8 ? at national trails-bpg.i have a 10pt cage with upper loop around windshield.i run ihra and they don't require it.i will put one in if need to but need to order one.not alot of time left to do it.
this is right out of NHRA rule 6:3 WINDOW NET A ribbon-type or SFI Spec 27.1 mesh-type window net is mandatory on any car required by the rules to have a roll cage. Window net must be securely mounted on the inside of the roll cage with permanent attachment at the bottom. All attachment points must be designed in an attempt to protect the driver and avoid contact with track surface or guardwall. Eyelet clips, dog leash hardware, hose clamps, etc. prohibited. Penetration of webbing, except as performed by manufacturer, prohibited. Any modification to net must be performed by manufacturer. 4:11 ROLL CAGE Mandatory in all cars running quicker than 10.99 seconds or faster than 135 mph, or per Class Requirements. Cars with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted) running between 10.00 and 10.99, roll bar permitted in place of roll cage, or per Class Requirements.
so if i don't run faster that 135mph i don't need,or if i run 10.99 or quicker i do .! is tech at bpg going to look?
Must be a real pain in the butt having a car that needs a window net...We should all be so lucky...
Correction on that rule for a cage. you typed 10.99 or faster. It is 9.99 or faster. Plus if you have a cage in the car you still need a net. Mind you NOT a roll bar, a full cage. It is a gray area if you don't run 135 or in the 9's and you have a cage installed. They may still break your balls on having a window net. As for tech.guys we been warning everyone for over a year now. The BPG has NO control on how the track runs its rules. Worst case would be they follow the NHRA rule book to the letter of the law. So play it safe and get your car to specs. It would be a gamble if a car is not legal. They may let you slide and they may not. I for one traveling 11 hours will make damn sure my car is legal. If its not and they fail me, well SHAME ON ME. It will be no fault other then mine and a total waist of 11 hours of driving.
