If so...what are some good budget mufflers w/ soundTU: :TU: :TU: ) and performanceBrow: :Brow: :Brow: )
I'm running stock manifolds with glasspacks way up under the front floor boards. It's pretty quiet inside and loud and rumbly outside. I'd suggest that, it costs less and you won't have any problems with things not fitting properly. Also, I'm having a lot of car guys ask me where I got that sound. Which engine are you running?
Alrighty then...thanks guys! P.S. This is probably one of the best forums...people actually answer questions and give good tips...not alot of bashing that i see on other forums
Tell me if these glasspack mufflers will fit? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PTE%2DH3010&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BIG-50230FLT&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BIG-50252FLT&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLK-24214&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-630810&N=700+115&autoview=sku If they do fit...which is best for sound...and/or performance gain?
dont go with the purple hornies, i always see people complaining about them cracking at the flange. You'll also get a good vibration up through your seats from them being right under there. Wonderful for your girlfriend/wife but gets annoying. I'd go with the summit mufflers in your list. Just make sure you order the right size. If you get a 2 1/2" dual exhaust, 2 1/2" muffler is what you'll need.
The Poston Buick site... says the header has a 3inch collector... the Summit exhaust system says this: <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#f5f5f5';" style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f5f5f5" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF'"><TD class=overview-c1 width="25%">Intermediate Pipe Diameter (in):</TD><TD class=overview-c2 width="75%">3.000 in.</TD></TR><TR onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#f5f5f5';" style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF'"><TD class=overview-c1 width="25%">Tailpipe Diameter (in):</TD><TD class=overview-c2 width="75%">3.000 in.</TD></TR><TR onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#f5f5f5';" style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF'"><TD class=overview-c1 width="25%">Tip Outlet Size:</TD><TD class=overview-c2 width="75%">3.000 in.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Ok this http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-630810&N=700+115&autoview=sku muffler says...it has 3inch inlet diameter...and 3 inch outlet diameter... So all this will match up correct?
Ive decided to go with the Poston Intake manifold...for performance gains...but if i get a new carb...which route should i go? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D1411&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HLY-0-4779C&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=JET-35002&N=700+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HLY-0-80508S&N=700+115&autoview=sku Best

Dont get a new carb. Get yours rebuilt by someone who knows the q-jet. I just rebuilt mine stock some years ago but plan on having mine done by a pro.

So all this will match up correct? Yes it will match up. Just make sure you order the mufflers with 3" openings in/out. I dont have an exhaust on mine yet, i had a shop just cut Two, 12" long pipes and flare them so i could slip them over the header reducers i put on. I originally wanted 3" exhaust but a deal popped up on the board for flowmaster mufflers so i bought the reducers and am going to use a 2 1/2" exhaust. Great choice with the poston intake. My idle and throttle response is so much smoother now. I orignally put on a 1" carb spacer but took it off for now until i can buy a low profile air filter. Along with a stage 2 hood scoop :Brow: http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l200/frontier_gander/Guns/?action=view¤t=100_2799.flv
Yep, that was the first thing i installed. I like seeing what the actual pressure/temp is and not worry if the dummy light is actually working or not. Holds a steady 20lbs when its at full temp.
