WILL these fit on my 67 rivi 430 engine? Anything i should think about? 1970s Buick STAGE 1 455 heads with 2.125/1.750 stainless steel valves and 3 angle valve jobheads have a nice $800 street port job and flow great mid-range and top end numbers which is good for low down torque, these made 460HP with a mild cam, they have been fully reconditioned and assembled ready to bolt on Can grab the pair for 750.00. Thats his ad posted above.

The smaller bore of the 430 really cuts down on any gain relative to a 455 with the larger cylinder bore.

Ok thanks for helping me out. Much appreciated didn't know if it made sense to get the bigger heads or just replace mine. One of my heads has a weird weld inside of it that I don't like I think it is causing my engine to tick when I push the pedal to the floor only while moving. I can rev it don't hear anything but if I start haulIn it Ticks real fast.

    Are you using premium fuel?

Sometimes there can be an exhaust leak at the manifold that you can't hear by just revving the engine. It gets louder when the engine is under load.

Tried to take it easy cause I'm scared of breaking something but I had to push it to cause the sounds. Thanks in advance all you guys are very helpful here I love this forum!! And yes in California i'm using chevron and shell 91 octane premium fuel!!

I think a lot of us younger guys have no idea what detonation really sounds like.
Myself for example, i've been driving computer controlled cars since I was 17, with knock sensors and check engine lights many of us haven't had the oppurtunity to learn what to listen for.:error:

Yup, that is detonation. Try not to do that anymore. It is extremely injurious to an engine. You can hammer connecting rod bearings, crack pistons, and worse. Check your ignition timing, especially the total timing. Get a dial back timing light, and read my "Power Timing " thread in the FAQ Forum.

That is why I asked. Lots of people don't recognize the sound, and you can really hurt an engine. If you have a really loud exhaust system, you may not even hear it at WOT, and that can hurt your engine big time. That is why I add race gas ANY TIME I GO TO THE TRACK. Yes, the higher octane can slow you down a little, but it will save your engine from detonation should you have too much timing, or you run lean. It usually sounds like a sharp metallic rapping.
