I found a nice set of slicks on steel wheels locally They were mounted on a Nova The seller said they will not fit an a-body.. A google search is not really clear, seems nova's had a couple different bolt patterns? thoughts?
well I "A"bodies used the 5x4.74 pattern and this nova site suggests Nova's used the same pattern: http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36598 But I did see one link as well that said it could be a 5x4.5 pattern as well? so the bolt pattern should fit, but you'll want to check all the other specifics of the wheel: Offset, backspacing, etc.... If they're close by can you drive your Buick over and try them on?
I recall buying some used tires with wheels at U-pull it yard that were on a Nova. I bolted them directly to the '72 Cutlass I was driving at the time. I wonder if the different patterns depend on whether the Nova is a 6 cylinder or a V8?
I think i saw some where in 73' the Nova could have the 5X4.75, or 5X4.5 as options. o No: dang where's a Chevy guy when ya need him?
First and second gen Novas had 4x4-1/2 or 5x4-3/4 pattern depending on the engine option. I know because we got a '63 outside with the 13" 4x4-1/2 wheels. The third and fourth gen cars had the generic 5x4-3/4 pattern (we had a '74). The pattern didn't change again until they started selling the Toyota Corolla as the Nova in this country, which is in 84/85.
As far as the bolt pattern, yes, they will fit, but most Novas need a deep backspacing to fit wider wheels/tires. The wheels I have on my `65 Skylark were previously on my `70 Nova. The rears I have are 15x8 and they have a 5 1/2" backspacing, probably too much for a `70. You didn't mention the size they are but I think for a `70, if they are 8" wheel, you'd want a 4 1/2" backspace.
Thanks guys Here's what Im looking at http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/2948094229.html Seller tells me they wont fit, and wont return any more emails so far And its a bit to far away to 'check it out' Maybe he'll email me the bolt pattern measurement and back space
They look like they're on stock 6" wheels so they'll probably fit but I wouldn't really like a 6" wheel on a 9" slick. It's not a bad price but no super bargain. Even though they haven't been used, do you know how old they are? They may have been sitting around for a couple years already. For the $60 difference between those and some brand new ones, I'd go with new ones and then find a used pair Buick rally wheels.
