I thought this might be of interest.
I will be running street stock/pure stock enduro dirt track races using a SBB350. Its in a '79 "B" size 2 dr, an Impala/LeSabre,etc.
Right now its bone-stock with a Q-jet to see if it can survive.
If it survives the first 50 lapper then a "real" cam maybe in order.
If the gearing is figured right, it should only be turning about 5200 to 5400rpm. Has any one else has run one this way or in an IMCA car?

Just make sure the oil pump is up to snuff, and keep oil temps in check, otherwise, go for it:beer Mark

well, here is an update. The ol' 350 did survive.
I would even say it did ok. Power was equal to what I would expect from any bone-stock 350 running through a y-pipe single exhaust. It did boil over a 4-core radiator when stopped for a red flag.
I didn't get gauges hooked up so I don't know how hot it was, but it still sounded ok and cooled off as soon as I got moving again. The rear seal was fine before, but looks like it leaked a little. The next step is to get a set of 2" dual pipes and try to find a 2 barrel intake manifold so I can try my Holley 500.

thanks for the thought, but I think the shipping from your location would be too much. Our local pick your own parts might have one. The good thing was that they knew that there was such a thing as a Buick 350. At the local parts store they were pretty sure I didnt know what I had "Buick never made their own v8, it must be an Olds" Does anyone else ever get that?

Yeah it takes a different breed to put up with lack of parts, high prices and poor informed sales people. Not to mention the coments like. "Put a SBC in it" or "It's just another 350". My reply is usualy No, No, No!

You can tell them idiots that Buick made engine up till 1980.
1980 was the last year for the Buick 350.

beign a 79 your should also have the x engine code. When you ask for parts says it a 350x not the 350r. x Buick / r cheby.
