In my mostly street driven GS, will a 107A cam from Poston (window rattler) give me enough vacum for brakes? I have the gear and converter and would love to upgrade from my 113a. :3gears:
I pulled a Kenne Bell 107 window rattler last year, dist. drive gear wore out. I was right on the edge with vacuum. Had to keep the rpm's up around 1000 - 1100 and use both pedals when I came to a stop. I didn't have a vacuum resevoir though, that might help. That cam was alot of fun, I currently have the GSCA hemi killer... not as fun as the window rattler though.
John: I don't think you'll find enough vacuum to comfortably drive on the street with power brakes. You can always put an electric vacuum pump on to remedy the problem. Just too much overlap. A good friend had that cam (Kenne Bell) back in the early 80's in a 4 spd Stage 1. One nasty sounding cam and ran great.
could someone post the specs of the kenne bell window rattler cam? I have been told that poston or ta performance may make a copy of it under another name. Does anyone know which cam is a copy of the window rattler?
Let me blow some of the dust off my catalog... Int/ exh .473 lift gross dur 320/322 Didnt the early 107s have .490 lift? I seem to recall having .490 lift in my old X
Valve lift will depend on rocker ratio. But the early KB 107 had something like 244 int. dur. at .050" and 266 exh. dur. at .050"
See the "old" vs "new" KB107 specs here: http://www.chicagolandbuick.org/partners/Charlie Evans cam tables.htm Devon
Good link Devon. That refreshed my memory. I remembered a difference, although it was many Buicks (and engines) ago. You know youve been at this a while when you ordered Buick parts through Kenne Bell!
