I have a comp 268 high energy cam, I was wondering if i will end up with problems if I use the melling timing set and lifters with the comp cam? I know the springs need to be changed, but the keepers and locks should be good to reuse due to there only being 14,xxx miles on the engine.

I have the 268 Comp Cam in my 350. I kbought the cam kit with the springs and lifter, but used the original keepers with no issues. I think you'll be fine.-Josh

I think so too, but comp says in their instructions that you should use a comp timing set and lifters. I think it is just a scare tactic to get more $$, but I could be wrong, it happened once before. I just want to be sure before I install the cam/lifters/timing set

i would say use the comp cams lifters because they are probibly matched to that cam as far as specs go. the timing set is probibly the same though so i wouldnt really worry too much about that:beer

That is a very mild cam. You will be fine with your melling lifters as long as you break them in properly. Stock springs would have been fine also. I used a bigger cam than that with stock springs and it was fine.:TU:
