i found a set of big and littles, but the owner does not know anything about wheel backspacing or width. all he knows is that the rear tires are 275/60/15s. i guess my question is, does anyone know if the 1970 camaro shares similar backspacing? Id hate to waste a couple hours driving out there for nothing. thanks in advance.
The bolt pattern is the same, so yes, they will bolt on. With a 275/60-15, my guess is the rear wheels are 15x8", which the most common for that size tire. And the most common backspacing for that wheel is in the 4" to 4.5" range depending on the manufacturer. Less common is a 5" to 5.5" backspace. The 4.5" will definitely fit and more than likely the 5.5" will fit, they just won't look right on the car. Before you make the trip, ask the seller if he knows the backspacing. If not, maybe he'll measure them for you.
Backspacing is going to be the key. With a 15x8 rim, 4.5" backspacing will center the wheel in the rear wheel well and look good. A common problem is many rims of that size commonly have 3.33" BS and the tire will stick out right to the ende of the fender lip and the tire will most likely rub there and cause you problems. Good luck.
That would fit if his measurements are correct. I have seen this off set run with really big tires. If I can remember correctly 5 5/8 is the max of set with a 70/72 Lark and I have seen these with 315 50 15 on them. Now I cannot say there was no work done to the wheel openings but I think it fits without any cutting
picked up the set and im super excited about seeing them on the car. still got another week before i head back to the house but ill post pics when i get em on. i have to break down the skinnies and re-silicone them but other then that i think they're going to be great. they are 15x10 5.5 backspace with 275/60s.
Those are some "skinny" tires for those rims. I run the same size/BS rims with a 325/50R15 drag radial. They fit.........barely. You may need to trim back the top of the fenderwell to insure no rubbing issues. You may also want to run airbags in the rear springs to keep the rearend of the car from bouncing too much while driving because the wheel well is still rounded up inside and will rub without the airbags set at about 10 psi or so.
yeah i know, a 295 would be more ideal and will probably be what i end up putting on when these are used up. yeag i plan on getting airbags anyway to help set up the rear end for optimum traction.
Nice score! Those ET Streets are only good for about 5-10k street miles. Don't ever drive them in the rain or even shortly after any rain....ask me how I know LOL?! On the plus side they should perform excellent at the track. Josh
yeah i know. I've had pretty much every drag radial and slick on my foxbodies and f-bodies over the years.
