will a sp1 fit under the hood of my 70 gs?

i have a sp1 on my 455 in my regal, but it only fits because i have a cowl hool. i thought about getting one for my gs instead of the old school offenhauser intake thats on it. i run an open air filter and not the snorkles. anyone else tried this?

 

i used to run mine with a 1&1/4 drop base air cleaner and it fit no problem..mike

Dan, I have a 71 GS and run a SP-1 on a 455 and it just fits. Leaves me about a 1/2" clearance. I'm running a K&N air cleaner with a 1 1/2" drop base with the Extreme lid. Hope this helps.

 

If you're running a spacer, don't expect it to work though.
