Will a Chevelle core support work in a Skylark?

There isn't much left of my '72 Skylark radiator core support, probably not even enough for the patches and I see that OPG sells a complete reproduction for the Chevelle. Does anyone know what the differences are between the 2? Can the Chevy piece be modified to fit a Skylark?

No it wont work. http://www.mrbuick.com/core.htm buy these and fix another support. That is about the only way unless you can find an NOS one, or a real nice used.

    Mike,

Thanks. By the way, that is fantastic metalwork in the pics! :TU:

    Jeff-

Not to hijack your thread, but this would be a good answer for you to know too should you buy Mike's pieces.

    Mike-

What tips can you give for preserving alignment in welding your kit in? I've thought that perhaps making up a plywood jig using the remnants of the holes that are left on the original rusty pc as a template would be the best way.

Any hints you'd care to share? (Or anyone else for that matter)

The kit and GM both have alignment holes that by using a pair of punches you can set it in the correct place easily. I have repaired several supports here and it takes only a couple hours per side to have it ready to paint.
