Will a cast-iron 4-bbl intake from an early 340 fit a 300? Is there any way to identify the if an intake is from a 340 or a 300?

    Thanks!

Buick 340 engines were only produced for the 1966 and 1967 model years.

Their intake manifolds are wider than the 300's, and will not fit any other engines.

    300 4 barrel manifold

Try contacting Ken Reeves at Wheatbelt Antique Auto. His number is 580-855-2449. He may have a good used 4 barrel manifold for your 300.

Does anyone know the casting numbers of the 340 intake? There is one for sale on ebay but he claims it's from a 65-66 340, and one of those pieces of info is wrong; it's either a 66-67 340, or a 65-66 300, and I need to know what to ask him to make sure it's the one I need. Is there anything distinguishing that would tell me if it's for a 300 or a 340?

WUWU20 - I plan to take some more pix now that I've done some work on it!

    Thanks!

The link below should help, I used it to find casting numbers for the 300's intake.
Although looking at the 340 on the list, it seems there is a typo.
Notice how it says 1379948 66-67 300,340 that can't be right cause the blocks are different.
Anyway, you could use the list to narrow down what it isn't.

As far as 300 intakes are concerned the aluminum 4bbl is 1359122 and the cast iron is 1367299

The intake manifold for the 1966 340-4 is part no. 1375986.

The 1967 version is different and is part no. 1379948.

The Buicks.net reference is simply wrong.

The 340 would have been painted red.

Saw the eBay listing. Not a very good photo, but that does look like my manifold.

Even if its a 340-4 manifold for $5 + ship, it still won't fit any engine except a 340, so its worthless to you if you have a 300.

Thanks YellowLark for the help! Bummed it's not a 300 intake for that price :)

Do you have any other pics of your car? Looks like a super nice ride!

I didn't think the 64 intake would fit the 66 iron heads without modification? Is it a direct bolt on? I thought the only direct bolt-on was the 65-66 iron 4-bbl versions?

The only steel 4bbl intake for a 300 was the 1965 one. There was no 1966/67 4bbl 300 offered.

I have talked with guys who have 1964 aluminum 4bbl intakes on 1966 and 1967 300's. There are differences in the passages, and I think some have to be blocked off with thin plates. But, it can be done, and the advice should be found on this or similar Buick websites.
