I want to put a 295/65/15 drag radial on my 72 GS,, what rim size and backspace do I need to get these to fit and what modifications do I need to do?? Trim the quarter?? Cut and box the frame?? Also lookong to run stock rallye rims, i know I can get 8,10 inch rims with different backspace thx for your input

A 10" rim with 5 1/2" of Back Space will work just fine.

These are the rims I am using. 15x10 with 5.5" backspace:

I like the 15X10 wheel, it really spreads the tire out and makes it look full and also a better contact patch than using a 8" wide rim. My tires are 285/70/15 and they fit with not mods:

Thx for the input, did you raise the back of your car to get them to clear?? How much room do you have from the tire to the lip on the quarter.? Does specialty wheel make a 15x10 with a 5.5 bs?? Just wondering want to do this once

These wheels and tires are very tight on both sides but do not rub. I do not know if the rear springs were changed at some point but they could have been. There is no engine in the car in these pics so the front will be lower. No mods to the fenders.Keep in mind that each car is different, some cars are not centered on the frame causing clearance issues on one side.

I have no idea if Specialty makes a wheel in that spec... Are you looking for a Buick ralley wheel? If so look up Mcwheels on this board and he can build you a custom wheel with the backspace you want.

Have 295/65-15 tires on mine, but with nine-inch wheels with 5 1/2 BS.

I went with nine-inch because the disk brake rotors put them into the quarters. With drum breaks, it would be better.

Where are you? We could do a test fit and I would like to try 295/55-15 (if you know what I mean :Brow:).

That's downright "nasty" looking....I like it!

Where did the 10" rims come from?

That is a little far form me for a test fit.

No air bags yet (but thought about it). Stock springs would do, I installed a new set of rear springs (moog 5379).

I will have to look for some pictures or take some in the spring when I get it back out.
