That will work, except for rear universal. Can't recall the #s but there is a conversion one available.

Rear end fits like a glove from the Monte.

The rear should bolt right in,with all the correct dimensions that you mentioned. Different U-joint is the only thing not the same.

The frame is identicle from the firewall to the bumper. Actually,a 70 Monte Carlo deck lid is the same as a 70-72 Skylark also.

A junk yard in PA used to make A-body convertable frames from Monte Carlo, and Grand Prix frames by cutting the front section off,and welding a BOP A-body front frame to it,because the GP,and MC frames were boxed in from the factory.like a convertable frame.(thats where I got my rust free, new to me,frame)

    So,yes the rear will fit.

  6. Yes it will bolt right in.

This info is wrong. Monte Carlos NEVER had boxed frames. Only the GRAND PRIX did.
Also the Monte carlo frame is a 4 door chevelle frame.

I do not know about the grand prix never had one never will.

Just buy a 1350 yoke for the 12 bolt if you are making a NEW driveshaft. Jim

It was a Grand Prix frame they made it from, and yes they were boxed in those years. I'm sorry, i assumed that the Monte was the same being that it was the sister car of the Grand Prix.

And I think you are wrong about it being on a 4 door Chevelle frame, because if you measure from the firewall,to the rear of the frame,it is the same length as an BOPC A-body vehicle. It is the front end that is longer, from the firewall to the front bumper on both the GP,and MC.So they were probably both the same frame for the MC,and GP,and I would hazzard to guess that the BB MCs got a boxed frame, and the sb MCs did not,all the Pontiacs did, because the 69-72s all had 400 CID or higher, with the big torque of a Pontiac.

On a 4 door A-body frame, the center of the frame is made longer to accommadate the extra doors, and the same front clip as a 2 door is hung on it,and are interchangeable. The wheelbase may be the same as a MC,but the front end is about a foot + or - shorter than the MC.:Smarty:

This is correct the added length of the Monte Carlo frame was from the fire wall forward. I would assume the GP was the same
    in that respect.

1969-72 Grand Prixs and 1970 Monte Carlos used a modified hardtop frame, and the only design difference is the movement of the front wheels four inches forward of the traditional front wheel position on the hardtop and convertible. The engine and tranny position remained at the same place, but the mass of the components resulted in the engine and tranny combo behind the front wheels. The frame's wheelbase dimensions measure 116 inches, and this frame design is exclusive to the Grand Prix or Monte Carlo.

Check out the 4 door chevelle frame and the monte frame... Same length. :) I restored lots of monte carlos. :)

I am not saying all the mounting points of the body to the frame are all the same it is the same wheel base. :) Jim

The straight frame area is 4" longer

    TAke care, Jim

The tires should fit without a problem, it all depends on the backspacing on the wheels whether or not you will have fitment issues. I run 235/60R15's on chevy rally wheels with I believe a 4 inch back spacing and mine are very close to the rear frame rails.
