....and is the "X" on the diff the same identifer as on the '65. How can I be sure it is a posi and what gear from external id? Thanks Rick
I don't Have my Book Rick I will look it up today and get back to you. I don't have my book with me. But I am pretty sure it will but not 100% so I will look it up Don
Hi Rick our 65's have the differential carrier that unbolts and comes out the front-in '66 they changed it so the differential is in the axle housing. So I guess if you changed the whole thing it would work...What ratio did you find for the "66? Picture is the '65 "pumpkin". a '66 would be the whole housing! They use the same gears but not carriers. ou:
Ted: I don't know much about rears but the guy says it's a 3.55:1 whatever that means. Anyway, can I convert my rear to a posi w/ aftermatket parts? I'd hate to change the whole thing out. Who sells aftermarket conversion kits if there is such a thing. By the way Ted, I'm only kidding about the ratio, I don't know what the ratio is, but I thought it would get you worked up with the 3.55. I don't know if 3.55 is rare or not. o No: I thought I read somewhere you were looking for a hard to find rear. But, I will get a posi at some point. What should I be looking for? Rick
What you see in the picture! Its a 3.42 posi from a Riv 63-65- the flanged connection is different from Wildcat's and Electras, you would have to exchange with the one on your existing differential. 3.08 posi seems easier to find and isn't too bad. 3.55 would be a great find :TU: you would have lots of offers for that! The 4-speed needs 3.90 gears, made of unobtanium!
