Sorry, this is a V6 question but I figured they are so close to the 300's that it might be the same rationale. I have a gentleman interested in purchasing the cylinder heads off of my 1964 Buick 225 V6 and install them on his 1967 Buick 225 V6 engine. Does anyone know if this is OK to do? Thanks.

not at work right now , so this is kind of a guess ( and if both motors are in fact 1964 and 1967 ) :
TA catalog make 'em sound the same , only one size V6 both years , samp comp ratio , same stock piston choice .
check with a parts place and see if intake and exhaust gasket part#'s same from year - year ?
visually check both heads to see if both match up as far as fittings and bolt holes etc .
all bets are off if your 64 has aluminum heads - dif's for the V8 models , intake side - may be dif's for the V6's also ?
    * just thinkin - does he NEED heads ? or just wants yours because they are aluminum ? slight weight advantage , no performance advantage . plus the aluminum's are prone to some other problems . only used 'em for one year for a reason on the V8's .
thats it . keep checkin .

Well I checked at NAPA to see if they use the same head gasket, they do. It's up to the buyer to determine if his intake & exhaust will work. I told him I'd email pics of the heads once I pull them. Thanks for the good tips.

    Hi,

I think I read somewhere the 64's were different than the later 225 V6 heads, I think it had something to do with how the heads flowed, but don's quote me on it, you should be ok I would think as long as you swap both heads as I am sure you won't notice any performance losses unless he is building a early V6 then he might want to research which heads flow the best.

Also 64 V6 heads are cast iron not AL like the small blocks

    Regards,
