Just like the question says - thinking about putting a pair of 15x8 rims with 4" BS in back, possibly w/275 series rubber if it'll fit without hitting the inner well edges. Any one running that combo on their car? thanks
Scott. That will put the side wall of a 275-60-15 fairly close to the wheel well lip. 4-1/2" to 4-3/4" rear spacing on an 8" wheel clears fine, 4" may require some trimming of the sheet metal and/or wheel well molding. I have not personally tried what you are proposing, so it may be best to wait for others to comment.
I suspected that would be the case but figured I'd put the question out there in case others have done it without issue. Likely going with a 255-60 to give myself back the extra clearance if I go with the wheels I have finally have in mind. thanks for the input!
Ya Sean, I've seen your pics before, looks like a lotta work stuffing 10's under there, and where to do you get 285 tires?
No work required for my car, this wheel and tire combo fits perfectly. This was a bolt on deal. I have another set of the same wheels with a 30X11-15 drag radials (for the track) the same size as the 285/70/15 street tires. Here you go: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/COK-629711/ These are the rims I am using. 15x10 with 5.5" backspace http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-561-5162PS/ Or these ones here are good: http://www.summitracing.com/search/...ies/Summit-Racing-Quick-8-Series/?Ns=Rank|Asc You can use a 295/50/15 which is only 26.6" tall and nice and wide. They look great on a 10" wide wheel. Personally I prefer a bit taller tire but many people like these tires: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BFG-16225/ Or if you want some tires for racing something like this 11.5" wide and 28" tall street legal tire would work well: http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/MTT-3754_MT_ET_Street_tire_28x11.50-1.html
