I read somewhere that a 275/60-15 will fit in the rear of a 65 skylark gs with a 15x8 wheel with 5 inches backspacing. Is this true? Anyone done it and have pix? Can a 295 fit as well? I was thinking of some 275/50-15 drag radials since they are shorter than the 60 series.
I fit 275/60/15 Drag Radials under my 64 with a shorter 66 12 bolt rear end on Weld Racing wheels with 4 1/2 in back spacing. There is no way 295/60/15 will fit as these are tight.
I've seen the 275's on the rear but they are about 1 skinny finger away from rubbing. Too much body roll and you gonna have a new sidewall design.
My 275/60X15 M/T drag radials on a 8" wheel with a 3 3/4" back spacing wouldn't even come close to fitting on my 64 Skylark or on my 65 GTO.
If my wheels were 5 inch back spacing it would be perfect for the 275/60/15 in my 64. If I had 5 1/2 back spacing on my 15x8 wheels the 275/60/15would fit on the 67 with a 70 12 bolt rear end.
