I think the 10.25 compression ratio for the 340 was achived through the pistons not the heads. I know the 300 and 340 will share heads, and somewhere I read the 350 uses the same ones, but i don't remember how credible that information was.
There is a whole big long thread on this but basically, not without some serious work and expense. Here is a link to one discussion: http://www.teambuick.com/forums/showthread.php?17427-340-heads-on-a-350 Jim
The 350 heads flow better anyways, just have them milled if you want to raise compression and ported if you want to make more power.... I have seen 350s gain 100+ HP from head porting and the right camshaft.
Thank's Jim. There was a big long discussion on here about it too. There is no way a 340-300 Head will fit on a 350. For One it's longer than a 340-300 Head. The firing order is different too. Put the Heads on a shelf like you said. PONCH
Not exactly correct... The heads will bolt right on to a 350 block, BUT that is where it ends.. Like you said, the firing order IS different, requiring a 340 intake & exhaust manifolds, and a custom cam with 350 journals and 215/300/340 lobe order to work. There was some contention about push rod angles, but if anyone ever looked at a small block mopar or some other engines out there, they'd realize that the small difference one would encounter with the Buick would be peanuts. Im waiting to see the first person to run the TA Buick/Rover heads on a 350.. Who knows... It may be me, if for no reason other than to just to prove it can be done :TU:
