I have this old tach that came out of my Dad's old Wildcat he had back in the 70's
of the two wires does anyone know which is for what. one is blue and one white.
one for a light and the other for the tach, I don't want to hook them up wrong and fry something.
I think it was removed from the car because it was not working but I need to check by hooking it up

    thanks

If you have a ohm meter, the tach lead will be 400 ohms or so. The light will be 100 or less.

It won't hurt the tach to connect misconnect the leads.

Leave it to a guy named Scott to respond...

If I am not mistaken the wire at the top is for the lamp = 12v switched, middle wire goes to - on coil.

OK I will try that, the one thing I forgot was that my car has a HEI distributor will that change anything , just thought I would ask ?

Yeah the HEI blows things out of the water and you'll need to give it to me now.

You should connect the terminal that would go to the - side of the coil to the Tach terminal of the HEI. I Think. Anyone? Anyone?

Yes,the HEI will have a terminal clearly for the tach.Try and find the connectors with a length of wire that fit the cap as per the factory,it makes for a clean install and it will not come off.

    OK

I hooked up the tach on the weekend , the light worked but the tach did not which is why it was pulled from my Dad's car . but that was some 30 plus years ago and was not sure. so I will get it fixed and install it in the spring.

    thanks for your help :)

Send it to me and I can repair and calibrate those very reasonably.
