I have 295/50 15's on stock 7 inch rims, as do others... no problems...

its the fact that its a 70 series tire that scares me.... anyone running such a tall tire that wide? dont want rubbing issues..

and d you know the backspacing needed for the 15" rim with the 255/70

You will not have a problem with that tire on the rear. It is not as wide as my 245/60R15's and just a bit taller, which is no problem with the height.

In relation to the 245's, your 255's are about 1/2" wider at just over 10", but almost 2.5" taller at just over 29" tall. Even so, you should be allright with that tire in the rear. You may need to put air bags in the rear springs to keep the bouncing down over big bumps and such. I do, but only have to run 5 lbs. or less and things are fine, even with my 325/50R15 tires on a 15x10 rim.

Do you have a picture of that wheel/tire combo on the car? It sounds like something I'm looking for

My car is up on jacks right now gettin the 200-4R conversion done. I'll try and remember and take a pic or two once it's posted.

Hey, I found the thread that has some pics of them and other cars with their wide tires. My pics are the brown car on the top of page 2:

I run 255/60's on the stock Rally wheels all the way around on my 70 GSX and never have a problem. Do you really want 70's?

Yes 255-70-15 will fit the rear no problem. I have seen them on the front but you may have clearance problems when turning due to the height with worn springs.
I have G-70-15's all around on my hardtop no problem.
I have run 255-60-15's all around no problem, however you may have clearance problems when turning due to the width with worn springs.
