my lovly wife decided she wanted to take my gs for a ride last year while i was at work, when i got home she told me she took the car out for a ride and that it was running a little funnie, i thought to my self my car running funnie not likely,i mean it was my baby so after i rested from a long days work i decided to go and check it out so i go to the garage and holy s*** what happened to my prize the whole back end and drivers side of my car was smashed.....i got really light headed and had to set down for a min. .... so ok then my car is smashed junk now. anyways furious with rage i got get a bud light not saying a word as i walk past her throug ht the kitchen to the fridge i get my beer and quickly make my way back out to the garage and call my dad cause the car was a gift from him for graduation. My dad comes over and we decide the car is tost. She comes out to the garage and informs me of what happened she didnt put the car into park and it rolled out of the gas station parking lot and boom hit by a semi.... anyways atleast she wasnt hurt we decided to pull the moter and junk the car. the motor set on my garage floor for about 3 weeks and i just had to hear it run again i mean i just had to ,but with no skylark to put it in,lol i decided to take this 83 camaro that i had with a buick v6 in it and change motors. u talk about a crazy car this was it and let me tell u fast o man this car is fast im currently doing some mods to the motor but hopefully i can find another skylark soon cause i sure miss it ...just my story have fun folks

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I would contend that this gives you license to make her stop shopping for a year or two so you can spend a good chunk of change on another GS. If it was hit in the back you could probably raise quite a bit of funds parting out the front end of the car too.

  3. I'm thankful my wife is perfectly content in the passenger seat of my 68. She would sooner walk across town, than take my GS out of the garage, if I wasn't home, and she didn't have her van.

My wife always likes to take my GS out on a nice day wit the top down. She usually goes with one of the sister-in-laws.....not sure where they go, but they say they have a blast! Kinda scares me....for the car!:Dou:

My wife NEVER drives my Buicks,I ask her all the time if she would like to,but she always says no.
Once about 10 years ago she did get behind the wheel of my Skylark,I had her powerbrake it to do a burn out but she couldn't quite get it down?:Dou:

  6. Cole, I have a feeling my wife would be driving my 68 too, if it was a 'vert...

I used to ask her once in a while if she wanted to drive a little, but finally gave up. I thought it would be good for her to drive just ONCE, but I don't bother asking anymore.

    bummer dude

Sorry to hear about your loss man. My wife is intimidated by our '70 Stage 1, but she will hop into our Grand National without any hesitation and ALWAYS comes back grinning....unless she has had a close call. I am glad you went easy on her. I didn't even give my wife much grief when she backed over my harley, even though i parked where SHE asked me to....go figure...heh heh. She did drive my stage 1 when i first got it back together, but, i let someone else tighten the shifter,.....:Dou: and she backed it out into the street and the shifter literally fell off of the trans.....hasn't wanted to drive it since.

good luck finding that next gs

I think my wife is FINALLY getting the Buick bug.......she likes to drive my GS, she's the secretary for the BPG, and she's constantly trying to get my son to sell his '87 Grand National to her!:Brow:

I guess I shouldn't be surprised......when I met her 27 years ago she was driving a bright red, 4-speed Firebird (which I later totalled out for her):Dou: .....

That need for speed just doesn't go away! Can't wait to see her run in her first trip ever down the quarter mile at the BPG event in August!:TU:

How did you ever keep your cool? Your shock must be what carried you. I'd have freaked out.

I know the feeling, but can't possibly imagine the pain you must have felt. You must really love her!

Before my last paint job I watched helplessly through the garage window as my son lost control of the lawn tractor and rammed my driver's rear quarter. I yelled at him a lot but that's all.

On the lighter side, a Buick motor in a Chevy is good. A Chevy motor in a Buick is just a terrible thing.:blast:

Right after I had mine painted. My wife calls me at work and tells me she has some bad news that she backed my car into the carport I was sick all day waiting to get home. When I get home I found out it was a joke that my friends told her to do boy was I :af: I did not find it to be the least bit funny  :spank:

My wife loves riding in our Riv but would rather have all her teeth pulled than drive it. She is too afraid of being the one to put a dent or scratch on it. With that fear she would probably be more likely to make a mistake so I'm just as happy as can be that she won't drive it. She drove it about 12 miles the day I brought it home in August 2002. Since then she hasn't sat behind the wheel one time.

My situation is the sam as yours, Dick. I don't think she'll ever drive my car. At first I was a little put out, but now I'm glad. One day before my last paint job, she cut her turn too close parking next to the Riv in our driveway and scraped the side a little. I'll never forget how upset she was.

I wasn't too concerned, because that just made it a whole lot easier to convince her that the car needed to be repainted! She was so patient and supportive of me during the next 9 months I spent doing it that I thought I was dreaming.

My first wife drove my old '66 a few times, but she hated the car and thought I was crazy for liking old cars so much. That's why she now is "ex" wife. (among many other difficult circumstances)It's a lot better with my new wife, she even goes to cruises and shows with me. I'm going to keep this one.:TU:
