anyone know if later-model right door sport mirror wider-view glass would retrofit into a '72 unit? Part no.? Haven't had much time to hit the yards lately and I'd probably forget to check by the time I get there...

YES, it sure does. You may not even have to go to the boneyards. Motormite sells replacement mirror glass in most parts stores. It has an adhesive backing, and sticks on to to the mirror plastic base. The convex mirror is not correct for our cars, but who cares. The convex mirror will drastically increase your field of vision, and actually make that mirror usable. I actually had an bus mirror manufacturer cut me a piece of convex glass for my 70 R/S Chrome mirror. I siliconed it in. It made a HUGE difference.

Yeah, I've seen the motormite stuff in Pep Boys, but thought they were only standard view replacements.

I'll check out their web to see what they have.

    thanks for the tip!

Just for anyone interested in an update, the Motormite replacement p/n 51009 is NOT convex - it's standard view only. they don't make a convex replacement for the GM mirrors.

    ah well, 1 down....
