    Hey everyone,

Question..I have an Electra 225 with the 350 4B, and If I am going about 45 and hammer it, it will downshift and you can hear the secondaries kick in..Question is once I get to about 60-65-70 it starts to shudder and won't pick up anymore speed after that "nor will the engine?" I can still hear the secondaries being used but nothings happening? Car won't accelerate, upshift, nor will the secondaries kick out "unless I let off the gas." I think the trans won't shift up because the car isn't going fast enough to shift out of second.. Whats going on here? Carb, Fuel pump or something more terrible? Thanks for the help..

    ??

could be a fuel pump or u have a problem like i used to have.. an ignition wire grounding out. do a fresh tune up. wires. plugs . cap. rotor. and get some fuel cleaner. if the carb hasnt been rebuilt. REBUILD it

My first thought would be a worn out timing chain/gears.

    go fast????

First let us realize that a nearly 5000 lb car being carried by a 350 isnt the highest powered combination. But also we need to remember that Buick engineers realized this and compensated for that with gears ect.
I agree with the guy above that you should do a real sharp tune up and pay close attention to carb/trans linkage adjustment. It sounds like the trans is holding passing gear too long because the linkage is out of adjustment. Also pay close attention to the ign. timing and the vac advance. A dist recurve kit would probably help.
    ck the fuel pump delivery.
    vacume leaks????
how dirty is the air filter??
    ditto the fuel filter.
set the choke where the trailing edge of the choke plate is just open about 1/8" from the body of the carb.
Do you want to build it up or to just make it run normal?

    Buick go FAST!!

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for the help,
As far as a tune up goes I have plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil and all filters..
The car runs really well..It has 94000 miles on it and sure the carb has never been rebuilt..As I never have done it eithier..
On the trans linkage comment. How do I check that? Or change it for that matter..Never done that before..?.T350
I don't understand what part of the choke you want me to adjust?:( Is that the round part you can turn that says rich and lean on the side of the carb?
Just lookin to make it run good throughout the RPM range...I have a 455 out of a 72 centurion I think is going to end up in there one way or the other, but thats later..Thanks Guys..

    BIll

I had a 76 Electra with the 350 motor, it was a 150 something dollar credit you got if you opted for this engine over the 455. You also got a 3.08 rear verses the 2.56 with the 455. Not a real huge difference between the 2 engines as far as power 160 or so verses 205 but a big difference in torque
I had a similar problem, the front brake calipers would bind and heat up if i tried to go over 60 plus mph, yah may wanna check that out, Mark
