3 times more expensive than the 3 piece?

$188.00 for the 3 piece and the 1 piece trunk pan is $570.00???

    Whats that about?

How are we suppose to restore these cars at this rate? I'm not made of cash, although I wish I was.

Size of the machine needed for one piece parts maybe weather bought or rented Im sure its much higher. They add in all that stuff most times even if they already own and paid for it.

Not really, that has a lot to do with it. To stamp a piece of metal as large as the whole trunk floor, not only does the machine have to be physically larger but the hydraulics have to be much larger as well. And handling a single part that big (removal from the machine, handling, etc.) are also much more cumbersome- they can't be lifted by hand, now you need a fork lift. And don't forget that the raw material (sheetmetal) is larger and more cumbersome to handle & store.

Especially at the extremely low volumes that they manufacture this stuff.

I just found the columbiaparts guy who has 1 listed for 520. Getting a little better. I'll keep looking.

The others are 100% spot on. The equipment needed to run stampings that big runs slower and needs way more setup time and dollars than smaller parts. Even the strip stock of steel is harder to ship and move inside a plant, and is more likely a special order material. On top of that, the amount of tooling dollars is much, much more as well. Add to that the low volume production and you get exponentially higher prices.

    Welcome to the stamping industry!
