Just read the thread about Denny's barn find.......(nice car btw) :TU:

I've never really found the answer to my question......why does the 70 passenger side mirror have the Buick insignia stamped on the lower inside corner as opposed to the lower outside like the driver's side??

It looks wrong..... like someone just took a second driver's side and installed it on the right.....

Obviously these are defective and are not worth anything.... if you own one send it to me and I'll see what I can do to help rid you of these reject parts....

P.S. Seriously.....yes it eats at me. Done to save money, an oversight or what?

It looks like that because Buick used the same mold to make both the driver side non remote head and the passenger side non remote head. That way all they had to make was a different mold for the mount.

It was a way of saving money, especially on such a low volume option.

You could also look at it this way, if Buick thought it was necessary to make seperate molds for pass side mirrors, and thought there was not enough demand for the part, they probably would not have produced them at all.
