Why are all Buick Pistons Dished?

    daward Measure twice, cut once.

I was looking though TA's webpage, and after noticing the odd ball sized pistons (ie, 50 over's) I thought of a question:

Why are all BBB pistons dished? We all 0-deck our blocks to get true 10:1 compression, why not manufacture a flat top piston with valve reliefs? To my knowledge, all our pistons sit down in the hole as it is.

I can't be the first person to think of this... it just drives me nuts that to get good compression I need to 0-deck!
