The president is coming to Columbus on Friday, and he will land at Columbus International Airport. Air Force One will be there overnight. I work for the Gahanna Police that is about 1 mile away, so I have perimeter guard duty from 5:30am to 8:30. I am excited about! The Secret Service team will gaurd close by, but they need more guys for the security. Even if you don't like Bush, it's a cool gig!

    What?

    Derek,
you may be a Police Officer (and have great taste in cars) but you don't know much about security.

Here is what I know about the Presidents plans on Friday. He will be in Columbus,Ohio. He will be there overnight. Air Force One will be parked at Columbus International Airport. Local Police will provide perimeter security. The nearest local law enforcement (where additional support can respond from) is less than a mile away. One of the local Officers on the perimeter is named Derek. If you call Ghanna PD and say someone backed into his GS you can probably reduce the perimeter security by one guy. All of which I have no "need to know."
It is OK to be excited about it now, but the idea is to make sure that you are bored as hell between 5:30 and 8:30 am! Good luck

Dang, now I dunn screwed it up!

The Secret Service has been here for a month. I can't imagine anything getting to this aircraft! The amount of security is truly amazing. Funny thing though, Columbus Police get to do the motorcade security. When Bush gets off the plane the motorcycle cops are all lined up to shake his hand. All the cops are armed too. The Secret Service still warn them not to put their hands near their pistols!

I also got invited to go see him speak Friday night, and stand behind him with a large number of law enforcement officers. We would be the backdrop when he was talking. Too bad though, I have to finish working on the final plans for my wedding reception that we are having on Saturday night! My wife and I got hitched last week in Vegas!

Legendary....I love it!!! Bush who???? Someone scratched my GS!!!

Seriously, I think they allow us normal dudes to join in as a goodwill offer. I most likely won't even be able to see Air Force One from where I'm at :ball:

That's cool, Derek!:TU: I'm always "proud" when I get a chance to serve the President's crew, too! I've been ONBOARD Air Force 1, for:

Carter (Dad was Security, and I got my 1st tour invitation)
Clinton (I fueled the plane, and made "Ground Crew arrangements", my 2nd invitation)
Bush (I fueled the plane, and helped with Overnight Security, my 3rd invitation)
Bush, Jr. (Twice, Last Month, my wife and I were invited, my 4th and 5th time, onboard for a tour :TU: )

The "souvenirs" that we have are things that my wife and I have been "awarded", and we are proud to serve our country's Leader's and the people who serve them (such as the Pilot's, and Driver's, and Security Officers, etc.)! Autographed photos, matchbooks, napkins, M&M's (I'll give you "3" guesses what color they are! I HAD to take some pictures of those, before we ate them! ), ALL with the Presidential Seal on them. :bglasses:

Working at an airport has it's "advantages" :TU:  :bglasses:

Don't "expect" to get an invitation, Derek, but don't be "surprised" if they DO! :Smarty: Don't be afraid to ASK, either, because all they can do is say "No" (but as an officer, you may have a good chance, especially if you've never seen the inside of the plane, before. It is fascinating, to say the least! ). Go, if you get a chance! How many people CAN say that they've "seen" the President's plane (on the INSIDE!)?:TU:

What's the coolest air vehicles that you've ever seen (in person)?

I've fueled Reba McIntyre's DC-9, and Def Leppard's Lear Jet, but the coolest that I've ever worked with HAS to be the Apache Helicopters! Those are WICKED (and I'm glad they're on OUR side! :eek2: ) :bglasses:

Derek, my best friend is getting married in Vegas, Next weekend! Too weird. I'm telling you, I think Buick guys must have "other" connections, or is it ALL just coincidence? :puzzled: You decide.
