I just found out the alternator in my Centurion is bad already. I bought it from Auto Value seven years ago for $30 and it only has 10,000 miles on it. That's just not good enough reliability for me since I drive this car anywhere plus it is a tow vehicle. I put the one from my Electra in for now. (external voltage regulator) o No: Do any of our preferred parts suppliers make a good reliable alternator that I can count on. I don't care about the price. I am not going to buy another "rebuilt" one from the auto parts store. Thanks!
get one from jamie on this board. he builds them from brand new parts. not rebuilt. he goes by 65specialconver on this and other boards. i had him build a 105 amp internal regulated for me. came with a plug to jumper and remove the ext. reg. and also came with a plug to convert the alternator plug to the internal style. this means no alteration of your stock wiring (you can go back if you want). and it is a plug and play. if you get one of the higher amp units you may however have to upgrade the output wire.
