Are you guys running aftermarket intakes? Seems the stock manifold would work with a regular air cleaner.

I guess my plan for the starwars aircleaner is out the window! Or I need to look at hood bulges....hey - its a hot rod, right?

The starwars should fit with a stock and maybe the B4B.

I'm was running and SP-1, now a Wildcat intake with a 1/2 nitrous plate and it fits. Again using PAE mounts(ca 1997) and the later motor mounts.

I have the PAE pads, later mounts and a Performer intake. It fits under the hood fine with the drop base air cleaner. I'm surprised you're able to run the TA intake and the nitrous plate. I'll have to check my clearance. Maybe I can get my SP1 in there.

OK, so you think I'm nuts but I had both pads mounted to set the engine back and there was no way the pass side would line up. I finally un-bolted the pad from the frame and slid the mount bolt through. Then we measured to make sure the motor was sitting straight in the car but only the top most hole on the pad would line up so I drilled two new holes in the pad and ran bolts through with nuts. As my great uncle Rosannadanna used to say "annats the twuth".

As for raising the motor only 1/8 of an inch all I can say is I must be a huge exception. The stock 300 had an 18" fan that came nowhere close to the upper rad hose but with the 455 an 18" fan only cleared the upper hose by 1/4" and because the the motor was higher when I shut the hood it pushed the hose down into the fan. I don't know how high the 400s sat but the 455 is a good 1 to 1 1/2 inches higher than the 300 but hey, thats the way everything has been with this car but like the man said, thats hotrodding. :TU:

Yes you can! George P. has a TA intake on his 67 too. It's all in the aircleaner. not all drop-bases are the same.

From what I've experienced I bought some PAE frame mounts from Poston in 92. They were the same as stock. I also bought the engine mounts they sold at the time for them (68-76?) to mount a BBB in a 64-67. Everything was buggarred up from the get go. The engine mounts were not even the right angle for the frame pads. I did however get the engine in by using washers under the frame pads.
Since then I bought 2 sets of NOS 67 engine mounts. From what I've had other than 2 GS400's originals and the NOS ones other engine mounts will not work with out fabbing something up. I've had two 68 430's out of Riv's and a 69. Also engine mounts from a 70 Electra 225 I believe) The 67 engine mounts are shorter & have a unique angle to mount to the 67 pad.

What breather are you using? I have to make some changes anyway, I might as well put it on if I can. :TU:

I had to grind the welded Chevy motor mount out of my 64. The pad that uses the slotted holes doesnt move because the bottom hole is not slotted.

You guys are going to make me go pull my GS400 pads and mounts out and compare them to the TA mounts now.

I will have the car this weekend and I will mount the Factory GS400 motor mounts on the TA frame pads and then do the same with the motor mounts that came with the TA frame pads. I will lay something across the motor mounts and measure the distance to the floor with each set and see if one is higher than the other. If I have time I will put the factory frame pads on but that is going to b a pain to get to the bolts again.

Ed, just hold the factory pads on the frame next to the TAs and see if they are different heights. :TU:

I think Ed has the right idea - the difference may be iin the mount too.

Thanks for the part number. Nothing I do ever ends up being cheap.

Well I hung orginal motor mounts on the TA frame pads and the motor mounts that come with the TA frame pads. I placed a level across the motor mounts and measured from the floor. Not much of a difference. THe side to side difference was due to the garage floor.

This are the 2 GS400 motor mounts on TA pads.

Here are to pictures that show the frame pad thickness. I think this would raise the engine up as it is almost 1/2 inch thicker.
