"white" strip caulk?

I'm rebuilding the HVAC for my Skylark. It has a sort-of strip caulk that seems to be somewhere between the waxy stuff used for toilet bowl rings, beeswax, and white non-silicone caulking.

This isn't the black butyl rubber type stuff that normally gets used for body sealing.

Does anybody know where to get this stuff or a good substitute?

two places---(it's called "Strip Caulk" or "Rope Caulk")---Home Depot or Lowes, etc for a grey colored version....or....go to an autobody supply place and buy black colored 3M made version. The 3M stuff comes in a flat box (approx 12x1x4 sizes little box) and has a jillion strips of it layed out in the box with a wax paper between each layer of the strips. Probably go to the plumbing area if you get the grey stuff from HD or Lowes. Patton

Thanks Paul. I've got the black stuff, that is horribly sticky and I'm worried about smell when it gets hot...oh, and runny then too. I used it on the body in a few places.

I'll try HD and see what's there. Thanks again!
