Which water pump pully?

I think previous owner has the V6 water pump pully on this Buick 350.

It has the V6 brackets, V6 power steering pump, V6 alt, etc...

The alt to crank pully lines up perfectly, but the water pump pully groove is off too much for my liking. (inward too far)

I could shim it, but I would rather not do that.

Does anyone here use the 350 water pump pully?

(I don't have one to test fit)

    1982 Regal with 3.8 originally.

    Now has 1973 Buick 350.

Using all the V6 brakets and accessories. (like most do)

A/C is bolted up, but not in use, no belt on it.

Water pump pully needs to come outward (toward the rad) about 1/8" or 3/16" to line up better.

Lots of companies sell shim kits for this purpose, not sure how I feel about using them.

Was wondering if anyone uses the 350 water pump pully.

they should be the same depth as long as you dont have a short waterpump
    on the 350.
do you have the bracket from intake manifold to top of ac/alt bracket?

try to post a pic so we can see which combo of parts you have on there.

yes but everything should work fine if all of the brakcets and pulleys are
from one motor with matching waterpump.

Turns out the water pump pulley lines up just fine with the crank pulley.

It's the ALT that is out too far.

Which groove is the ALT belt supposed to go on?

The first (inner) crank pully groove, or the second?

you have power steering right?ac too?
it should be the outer(closest to radiator)
you do have 2 grooves that are tha same size and one on the inside
    that is really small?

Yes... 73 Buick 350 with 82 V6 brackets and PS. (A/C and air pump not hooked up)

PS belt is on the most inner pulley.

He had the ALT on the second groove. (going outward toward the rad)

Are you saying it should be on the third? (it would never work on the 4th)

The ALT lines up between the 2nd and 3rd groove. I figured the best way to get it lined up nicely would be to grind off 1/8" of the ALT mount areas, that would bring the ALT back 1/8" and line up much better with the 2nd groove.

4 th? hmm i have to think about that
your alt has a 2 groove pulley right?
did you have the big a-6 ac compressor?
you should be outer(3rd) on crank,outer(2nd) on water pump
and outer(2nd) on alternater. that should line you up
sounds like you might be missing the 2 groove on alter
is your alter brakcet alum or steel?steel is what i think should be there.

    No.

    No.

    Aluminum.

I think you missed the part where I mentioned it has all the 82 V6 brackets and accessories, as what most people do when they put an older Buick 350 in a 80's G-body that previously had a N/A Buick 231.

    line it up

put washers(as shims) behind the alt. bracket. I've also done this on the power steering bracket.Use a straight edge(2 foot level or framing sq.) to check pully-pully alignment.
