Which turn signal switch?

72 GS and my left turn signal indicator doesn't work. Left brake light doesn't work. All parking lights and hazards work normally. I think the issue lies with the switch, as the return cam function has never worked on the switch. I see several options available and am confused on which one to get. I do have a tilt steering wheel if that makes a difference. Not so sure about cornering lights.

I wouldn't condemn the switch yet. The turn signal bulbs are dual filament 1157's. If one filament burns out, the signal indicator in the dash on that side will stay lit and not blink. Same for brake light, it is one of the 2 filaments, so first thing to do is check all the bulbs, front and rear.

Secondly, there are small springs in the turn signal switch that cancel the signal when the steering wheel is turned back. These small springs can snap, but they are replaceable and available. This is what they look like,

You can see where the springs are in this picture of the turn signal switch,

If the signal isn't cancelling, look there first.

I replaced all the bulbs just to isolate the issue. One was blown for sure but the others seemed good. No change to my situation. Lights on=all 4 corners are good. Right blinker works front and rear as well as the dash indicator. Left blinker on= no dash indicator, no lights flashing on the left side. Brakes applied = no left brakelights (lights on or off). Hazards work fine on all four corners as well as both dash indicators. Any ideas? If it's a switch issue, which replacement is best?

Probably the contacts in the switch for left turn, as the flashers use a different circuit (you can tell that because there is a different flasher for it).

Duke, AFAIK, our 70-72 Skylark/GS cars never had cornering lights, side marker lights yes, not cornering lights. I see they have diiferent switches listed on www.rockauto.com I have no idea why. I would go for the switch without cornering lights.
