i want to add an overdrive gear for my 1972 skylark with a 455. it has a th-400 in it now, so i am considering a gear vendors overdrive unit. i am also considering installing a tremec tko 600 5 speed trans.

any thoughts? does anyone have any experience with the gear vendors overdrive units?

How about an Art Carr built 200 R,? you get the overdrive, lower first, stronger than a 700, that's going to be my next trans.

i am not sure that the built 200 r is strong enough to take a strong 455. the gear vendors unit is a bolt unit to the th-400 and can take 1200 hp.

John The gear vendor unit will not be a direct bolt in on the skylark unless you feel like beating the floor in to make it fit. There is a good thread on this topic that you should read. I will post the URL shortly.
