I need opinions on intake selection. I have a KB Wildcat and I'm considering ordering an SP1. I've read a bizillion posts and threads about both, but none convince me either way. Here's my combo thus far:

KB Wildcat, Holley HP 950, MSD 8517, MSD Digital 6, Stg 2 SE's (321/228), TA headers 2" primary, JE conical dish(should be 10.8:1). When I done with the short block I'll order a cam. I've always liked the 308s and the 210HL, or may order one cut to my motor. I'm trying to stay under 6500 rpms with a 3.73 or 4.10, TH400 3500-4000 stall. I've heard that the KB will hurt down low and is only for higher winding motors. I've also heard some guys say that it's not much loss but pulls harder than the SP over 4000. Anybody try both with mid level compression? :Do No:

Edit: My goal is high 10's if that helps.

The reason that you haven't found a clear-cut winner in the bazillion posts you read is because they are pretty close. I think you'll trade 10 ft-lbs of torque for 10 upper-end hp by going from the SP1 to the SPX. I think JW has picked up another 10 numbers on the dyno when cold water is used in the SPX, which would make the SPX be my pick for you if you live at the track.

Also remember that when you mash the pedal to the floor, your combo should instantly flash to about 4000 and go up from there. So any talk of the SPX giving up too much on the lower end is moot. The SPX has a narrower power band, but it sounds like your engine will be operating in that band.
