Which intake? B4B or Performer?

I currently have an Edelbrock B4B intake with the scalloped flange. It doesn't leak, but it does move the carburator forward more then stock and my throttle linkage is skewed. So I'm going to ask all you experts out there for your opinion. Should I sell this intake and buy a Performer? Or stick with my current one and figure out how to make my linkage stretch about 2". Or if you have a better idea let me know, Thank you

    My car's current setup is:
750cfm Q-jet - (Rebuilt with the C113 cam in mind), stock heads, unknown cam, 1 7/8" primary - 3" collector headers, 3" dual exhaust all the way to bumper, stock th400 with switch pitch, stock pistons, 3.08 open rearend and an electric fuel pump.

I WILL be putting in a TA C113 Cam (or maybe the 118 - still undecided), and having the heads given a street port and polish and stage 1 valves (unshrouded of course), will have it bored out to 430 specs (already have the 430 pistons), and will be going to a 3.23 rearend eventually.

This car will be driven daily on the highway and for long road trips. So it will not likely see a raceway.

    Thanks for the help!

    I could be wrong....

But I recall reading if you port match the performer, it will be equal to the B4B.

I didn't care about any performance difference though, I went with the performer because of the fresh air cleaner-hood problems.:Do No: I guess it really comes down to what you would rather have.:bglasses:

I have a performer on mine, it does sit a fair amount higher, but it lines up with the ram air hood good, and all the stock linkage was re-used. I am not sure what I am going to do with the height yet. May just cut down some seals in half and hope that the air cleaner doesn't hit the hood. It is close, may add a little foam above the GS455 sticker area of the air cleaner housing.

Hey, Todd. Man, I'd hate to see you get rid of your B4B. I've got one and love it. You might check in the old issues of GSExtra. I think there was a reprint of manifold comparisons that showed the B4B to make a bit more power than the performer. Good luck on the project.

    Thanks Jack!

This is the sort of help I was hoping for. I will most likely keep the B4B. But how do you make your linkage work? mine is practically laying on the intake manifold in order to reach the carb.??

    Thank you!

Todd, I'm not going to be much help with that. The B4B was on the car when I got it and the linkage had already been modified or changed. So I've never had a stock linkage, I assume. You might call one of the Buick motor builders: Jim Burek at PAE Enterprises in El Paso, TA Performance in Phoenix, John Osborne (270) 737-4467, Jim Weise, the moderator of this board, at Tri-shield Performance or call Mark at the GSCA tech line (229) 244-0577 (before nooon EST). With all the talent and experience among this group, you'll get an answer and they are all great to work with. The two phone numbers above are all I had at my office, but you can get the others off the internet. Also, you can email Jim Weise on this board.:3gears:
