I bought some decals; a very thin Air Cleaner Decal (not like the thick original one) and 2 valve cover decals.

Problem is the air filter cover has some slots; the original decal was made of aluminium i think so they could adhere this thick decal thereon.

Other thing are the valve cover decals; i dont know if the 66 340-4 had this decals because my valve covers dont have a plane area where they could being adhered.

Heres a pic of my covers:

My '66 340-4 has the same valve covers and no decals. I think the '67 covers had the decals and looked similar to the GS400 valve covers.

I might be able to use them, could you tell me what size they are and the smallest they could be cut down to? I have a rectangle on my Rover valve covers where I want to put a 340 label of some kind.

Those 340-4 valve cover decals are for a 67. I have seen them on one 66 in jersey. I think the guy said the car was built at the end of the run or it was a replacement engine that was installed early 67.

The correct air cleaner decal for a 340-4 says. Wildcat 375.

You should be able to add it right to the original metal plate that has it painted on it. If the metal plate is missing I am not sure how you can put the decal on. I put the decal right on to mine and it looks great. Sorry, I don't have any pictures and it is snowing right now.

Here is a link to the correct decal

I believe this one still has the metal plate that is painted. I know it is not for a 4 barrel.

    Bob,

I still got the metal plate..needs a bit of work to get the dents out but its usable.
If thats the way of adding the decal I dont need a picture.

I was lucky that my white writting on the side is nice. I was able to cafefully tape around the white writting and paint the rest black. It came out real nice.

Bob, thanks for the picture..looks good!

My Cleaner lost the white writing on the side when it was sandblasted and powdercoatet.

I have to buy the repro - decal version..

Tom, Your Welcome. I wish the rest of it looked as good as the air cleaner.

I really should rebuild the engine like you are. Just to freshen it up. It runs good, but I get slight chatter sometimes on the passenger side when I am I driving. I have 52,000 miles on it. I think it might be lifters but it could be more. I really need to drive the car a bunch. I have only put 500-600 miles since 1996. Maybe the extra driving will make the sound go away. So, I should know which way to go by summer time. I have never rebuilt an engine and I am not sure if I can do it by myself :Do No: .

Can you please post the part numbers on your exhaust manifolds. I just want to see if they are the same as my Skylark. Please post pictures of the air cleaner and engine when you finish.

    Thank you,
    Bob

I think its learning by doing..if you make sure to have the right tools, manuals and some people you can ask for help it is no problem. :beers2:

Im looking forward to get the numbers on my manifolds tomorrow..
    Parts Interchange Guide says they are the same for LeSabre and Skylark;
1375917 on DS and 1375910 on PS

    Tom
