I found a 4 bbl intake for my 64 300 in my skylark. Took in a 600 cfm holley I had extra to the shop. But cannot determine which adapter I need to bolt a holley on. Any help gentlemen? Thanks
Its been about 10 years since I did this exact thing. I think I used this oneo No: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Speedway-Tapered-Port-Universal-Carb-Carburetor-Adapter-Holley-AFB-/130825341863?hash=item1e75cc4ba7&item=130825341863&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr I could be wrong, but this is what mine looked like.
On my 215 I used a heliarc welder to build up the corners a little under the flanges, smoothed it off (using a large file as I recall) and drilled and tapped the corners for 5/16" studs so the carb would bolt right on directly. Then I think I had to open the rear throttle bores up a little, just enough to clear the throttle plates and smoothed the transitions of the larger bores. It worked really well. Jim
i always run holley carbs,,,, and what i do is take a base gasket for the manifold and a base gasket for the carb and use them for patterns for the adapter/heat shield that i make out of 1/4'' rolled steel.... i cut the barrel holes with a drill press and metal cutting hole saw... then i drill the holes for the bolts champforing the holes that are for the bolts that hold the adapter to the intake manifold and use countersunk screws for that...... then i drill and tap the holes for the bolts that hold the carb to the adapter... this has worked well for me.....:Brow:
