Ok, so I've been toying around with the idea of switching cams when I swap to the nice intake and heads this winter. I am leaning to some kind of custom grind. What would the experts here suggest? Thanks Fuel mileage IS important CR 9.5:1 Heads flow 265/185 I like the idea of Rhoads lifters Nothing from TA or Poston
I found this gragh that will help explain what I want to get across to you: http://www.tworock.com/mjd/buick/350/PostonBest4hp.jpg As you can see the poston 114 cam is much like your ta212 cam in that it has great torque down low and makes decent hp untill 5500 rpm. The trick for you will be gaining enough top end without losing too much bottom end torque. Look at the 111 cam, it makes great hp but it gives up so much low end torque which would hurt your milage and throttle response in daily driving. Then look at the poston 112 cam and see how it gives up some lower end tq but not too much and still makes really good hp up to 6000 rpm. I suggest you look up the specs of the 112 cam and have a cam made similar to that by schnieder or comp cams. Onother option is to call Bobb Mackley and give him all your specs and have his cam magician work his magic.
http://www.chicagolandbuick.org/partners/Charlie Evans cam tables.htm The 112 looks to have similar lift to the TA 212, but a lot more duration. I am not impressed because of the significant amount of overlap. Thanks for the graph & info Sean
