Hi guys, I just scored a posi rear from a 1964 Buick Electra 225. Can anyone tell me where to look on this for codes? :Do No:

It has the posi tag and both drums turn in the same direction so it is a posi but I'd like to get the ratio next.

Any idea on what this might sell for? I plan on ebaying it soon.

    Thanks,

    Bob

On the bottom of the center housing, there should be an O with an X threw it. That indicates it has a posi.

I think there should also be 2 digits stamped somewhere, that indicates the gear ratio. I want to say it's on the bottom of the left axle tube? Or maybe it's on the bottom of the center housing? I forget  .

    Oh, you've got mail!

I would skip that search. You need to change the fluid and the gasket anyway. Take off the cover and look on the side of the ring gear for the set of two double digit numbers. Divide the smaller set into the larger set. The result will be the ratio.

On the very bottom of the center of the housing, under where the ring gear would kinda go will be a number. 07= 3.07/23= 3.23/42= 3.42/93= 2.93/90= 3.90 & so on

I found the O with an X in it but I couldn't find any numbers.

I marked the driveshaft end with chalk and marked a drum. The shaft goes around about 3 times for 1 drum revolution so I guess it's a 3.07

About what I expected since this is a full size luxury car. I knew it wasn't going to be 4.56's

    Thanks,

    Bob
