Cheap carpet is so thin you will be kicking yourself and doing it again.

ACC--Auto Custom Carpet sells a high quality product.

I was thinking of them too. They were on my list of places. Have you used ACC personally? Does Legendary sell carpet?

I have used ACC and have had good results. Scariest thing is cutting the hole for the high beam grommet! Also OPG new catalog says they now have the ultimate carpet made from the OEM. Do we trust them?

I definitely don't trust them. How can they know their parts? They never have anything in stock.

    ACC or OPG?

    I'm "assuming" OPG. :error:

Yes I bought carpet for my 57 from them (ACC) and it was perfect. Two years old and no problems. But they are probably the most expensive :( but still cheaper than buying it twice. :Smarty:

Seems the old adage of "you get what you pay for" would be the rule of the day in this case. :TU:

Ken, did you replace any weather stripping on your car?

Who did you use and are you happy? Like the carpets, everyone sells it and theirs is always the best, so I was wondering what you used on your 69.

Oh man. Let me see. I think I got it from Year One years back. It was basically, if I remember correctly, A&M Soffseal products. You know, the door jam, trunk jam and roof rail weather strips. They fit real nice. You may be able to go right to A&M and cut out Y1 unless Y1's buying power is so heavy that the price really wouldn't be much different.

I got the front window weatherstrip fuzzies from Y1 too. Took two times to get it right though.

The rear fuzzies I got from Poston because Y1 kept sending me something that was not even close. Maybe they are different now, who knows. You figure with Y1 being as big as they are, they'd know, but the rear fuzzies they sent me were so far off it wasn't funny.

    Great, thanks Ken.

I've seen some posts where people get weather stripping that's too fat or the wrong density causing all kinds of issues, so I wanted to check with other 68-69 guys.

I find all aftermarket weatherstripping is to dense. All kinds of issues. If you have power windows and use aftermarket roof rail stripping the windows will not close all the way. Classic industries sells an original type latex trunk weatherstripping that is listed under Impala and it should fit our cars. Just cut to fit. I plan on using it. For the doors all the stuff is hard and you will just have to slam the doors until it compresses. The original type latex skin stuff I have read has to be made over seas as it is very toxic to produce hence the junk repro stuff we are stuck with.

All I can say is I have no problem closing my doors with the stuff I have bought.

I do not have electric windows though, so I can not speak for those.

Man, when I went on their website, I really was in shock. $197 for the carpet and $60 more for the backing? $260 without shipping? Holy CRAP! That's all I can say. They even want $75 just for sound deadener.

$335 unshipped just to get carpet in my car. Is this stuff made of chinchilla or something?

Every place you go to says it's the 80/20 loop style original. You mean ACC and trim parts are the only places that have the 'real deal" and are twice as expensive because of it?

Sorry to rant, but around every corner is a surprise that I don't expect....

For years, and even up until now, I have always seen carpet up to around $130, WITH the jute backing. ACC is $197 WITHOUT the backing. They are charging $60 for the backing ON TOP of the carpet.

    Oh well.
