Found time to install the new Hellwig front bar tonight (1-5/16" front, 1" rear) :Brow: and found the threads on one of my bar bushing bolts partially rusted away. Can they be bought new from GM (p/n?) - haven't seen them listed in any of the repro cats... probably be a few weeks before I can make another yard run - the bolt's holding (mostly) but it's not totally secure. May try my friendly neighborhood Ace tomorrow... if anyone's got a few to spare, I'd happily pay the shippng (FL)
you might call hellwig ...i think the links should have been included with the bar.... unless they have changed something... OR ...you can usually find grade8 bolts at the hardware store that will work just as well. do you have good bushings for the endlinks? advance autoparts, NAPA, and probably others sell endlink kits that come with the bolts/bushings/nuts/washers.
Links and related hardware were all included - it's the bar bushing bolts that mount to the frame that I'm referring to - the 4 9/16 head self tapping coarse thread bolts - Hellwig doesn't apparently supply those with the kit.
aren't those bolts 7/16 or 3/8" ? the frame mount is already pre-threaded. i had the threads in one hole go bad. drilled it out and tapped to a metric bolt, grade 8. worked for me.
